Large Commercial Yacht Code (LY3)
The Large Yacht Code is applicable to vessels 24 metres and over in load line length and is the Code of Practice applied to yachts which are in commercial use for sport or pleasure, do not carry cargo and do not carry more than 12 passengers.
The Code sets standards of safety and pollution prevention, which are appropriate to the size and operation of the vessel. For vessels of this size, standards are normally set by the relevant international conventions. This Code provides equivalent standards, as permitted by these conventions, where it is not reasonable or practical to comply with the prescriptive requirements of the international convention.

Passenger Yacht Code
The Passenger Yacht Code is a Red Ensign Group Code of Practice that applies to pleasure yachts of any size, in private use or engaged in trade, which carry more than 12 but not more than 36 passengers and which do not carry cargo.
The Code has been developed to address the difficulties in applying some of the international Convention standards (in particular the Safety of Life at Sea [SOLAS] Convention and the Load Line Convention), which were designed for "merchant" ships, to the present day "super yacht". The Code in no way dilutes Convention standards but provides equivalent standards and arrangements, where appropriate, aimed at addressing in a pragmatic and practical way the challenges imposed by the design operation and usage of today’s large yachts.
