New Mandatory Security Training Requirement for Super Yacht Crews

From January 2014 new mandatory security training PSA and PDSD came into effect for all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on ships that are required to comply with the ISPS Code (this includes Super Yachts).
Everyone who is signed on as crew will have to undertake this mandatory new training. This will include anyone from the Master to deck & engine, cabin crew and/or housekeeping, stewards, cooks, pursers, massage therapists, hair stylists, nannies etc.
Our training partner IMSA were one of the first companies to be awarded MCA approval to deliver the new courses, “Proficiency in Designated Security Duties” (PDSD) and “Proficiency in Security Awareness” (PSA)
All crew will now have to hold one of the above certificates as part of their minimum mandatory requirement. The position on board will determine which certification is required.

To find out more about these new training requirements and to book a place on the STCW week or RYA courses, please visit our website or contact us.
